OK, OK, -- Maybe it is because I myself am a LEO, I consider this a special new moon! 




For my birthday, last Sunday, July 24th, I received many wonderful blessings
from all over the world on Facebook - that truly warmed my heart. 
Thank you all so much!

I celebrated my birthday by going with my friend Claudia
to the latest and final Harry Potter movie. 

What - you didn't know that Harry Potter is a Leo? 
Yup - July 31st!  which is also the birthday of JK Rowling (the author)

What a wonderful ride those movies and books have been. 
I want to go to Universal Studios Harry Potter next!

So, this New Moon, when the Sun and Moon both come together in the Sign of Leo,
will take place this coming Saturday, July 30th, at 2:16 am EST.

                       THE MOON

The sign of Leo is ruled by The SUN, and The Sun and Sign of Leo both
Rule the Heart, so this is a time to be Lion-Hearted and courageous.

And, along with the Sun and Moon, Venus, the Goddess of Love, will also be in Leo.
Well, Love is in the air!

And, that wonderful trickster and ruler of communication, Mercury,
will be going retrograde (backwards) in Virgo this coming Tuesday, August 2nd,
for the next three weeks, and will go BACK into Leo on August 8th!

We are currently in the Storm Period - can you feel the slowing down
and spinning around in your mind?  Remember to Breathe....

(-- Plus, you know the drill - be sure to back up your computers, and get your car checked --
and don't sign any serious contracts without double checking everything!)

Now, with this level of LEO energy in the air, Sun, Moon, Venus and later Mercury --
the creativity, passion and romance is going to be HOT, HOT, HOT during this time!
(as well as the stubbornness in Washington!)



Even the temperatures have been putting us through a massive heat wave!

LEO is a Fixed, Masculine, Yang, FIRE sign. 

So, LEO likes to SHINE, whether on a world stage,
or in a concert in a stadium, or in their own private little Kingdom at home. 

And, since the sign of LEO rules Theater, Drama, and Children,
this Blog (like last year) will be a combination of showing you pictures
of the BIG CATS, as well as their little cubs! 
(with a political twist)

Well, it's like the Republicans and the Democrats both seem to be saying:

Honestly, I'm so tired of all the fighting, I feel like taking a giant cat nap!

So here we are again - Another Full Moon!

This one occurs during the early morning, Friday, July 15th, around 2:30 AM EST.



In India, this bright big Full Moon in the middle of Summer is called
the "Perfect Moon of the Guru"  - or Guru Purnima.    

Gu and Ru comes from two Sanskrit words, "Gunas" and "Rupam",
which means "Darkness" and "Light". 

So the Guru is anyone who leads you from
the Darkness of Ignorance to the Light of Knowledge. 





This Full Moon is in the sign of Capricorn.



Capricorn represents the Father Figure, the Authority Figure, the Disciplinarian, the Boss, Governments, Corporations, Structures, and the Military. 

There certainly has been alot of Government bickering lately over raising
the Debt Ceiling and the economy.

Capricorn is related to The Father, and the Moon in Capricorn is opposing
the Sun in Cancer, which is related to the Mother.



So this Full Moon is falling on what we call the Father / Mother Axis.

In the Body, Capricorn relates to the Bones, the Knees and the Skin.

Full Moons are big, dramatic and intense -- just ask any policeman
or someone who works in an Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center 
(like me) and you can see how people's emotions get REALLY BIG!

Oh, yeah, and Pluto?  (You know, the Atomic Energy Plant in everyone's chart,
sometimes known as the God of Death and Transformation?)
is also in the sign of Capricorn, so this Full Moon could be very dramatic.

Capricorn is also related to Time, so if you feel impatient,
or overwhelmed or tired, take it easy!

And on a happier note:  Cancer and Capricorn happen to be The Clown (Cancer)
and the Dry Witted Comedian (Capricorn).

Many Comedians receive their inspiration from their emotions and their relationships with their parents and the past, especially the home (Cancer).

So, when things get REALLY intense, Just Remain Calm, Breathe, Take a Hot Bath, Forgive Your Parents, Forgive Yourself, and remember to laugh at the irony of life!

So, Here we are again - A New Moon!  
(Alot of this will sound familiar, since during last year's New Moon in Cancer,
we had a Solar Eclipse then as well.)

This New Moon coincides with a SOLAR ECLIPSE.

A Solar Eclipse must have been terrifying to the ancient people!

The Sun was their God, and it probably looked like God was being killed by some mysterious force. 

Well, that force turned out to be the Moon.

In Astrology, the Sun represents our Inner Spiritual Essence, our Divine Self.

The MOON represents our Emotional Nature.

So when the MOON comes between the Earth and the SUN, 
we human beings are likely to be driven by, overwhelmed by,
and focused on our emotions, rather than focused on God. 

This could be an emotional time for alot of people,
especially expressing strong feelings of patriotism for
one's Country -

After all, this is the weekend of the July 4th, and the United States
is a Cancer Country, astrologically speaking,
born on the 4th of July!

And THIS year's New Moon / Solar Eclipse in Cancer will be especially significant
because there will be a Grand Cross in the Sky with all the Cardinal Signs --
making us feel like we are in a Boxing match 
Between Sun / Moon in Cancer, 
Opposite Pluto in Capricorn,
and Square to Saturn in Libra, and Uranus in Aries - Yikes!

These are heavy planets to be in the Boxing ring with ---
Just think Restless, Irritable, and Discontent!

As you may already know, a New Moon is when the SUN



And the MOON




are in the SAME SIGN - so, right now the Sun is in the sign of Cancer




Hence, this New Moon will be about creating new things related to the sign of Cancer.
 
During the next two weeks, the focus will be on Mother Earth, Birth Mothers, Motherhood, 
Nurturing, Self Care, Emotions, Family, Home, Security Blankets, Homeland,
Boundaries, Safe Havens, Nourishment, and Connecting with the Past, just to name a few.   

In the Body, Cancer relates to the Breasts and the Stomach. 

The Stomach is where we feel and hold our emotions, which Cancer rules.

Mostly, Cancer relates to all things concerned with MOTHER and HOME. 

Hence the title of this blog,
"Home is Where the Heart Is!"

This is the perfect time to connect with Mother Earth, to send her our blessings, and love.

Are you focused outside or inside?"

Are you overwhelmed by the flood of information coming at you from your
Facebook, TV, Blackberry or I-phone?  You can always turn it off and take a break.

I believe true fulfillment comes from within.

them stop the chatter in the mind through meditation.

Well, I feel a little wierd saying "Happy Full Moon" when it is a Full Moon in Scorpio -

That's because Scorpio is the sign of Death, and Transformation,
and there seems to be a lot of Death and Purging around me lately.
Several friends and co-workers have lost loved ones.




 The Full Moon in Scorpio can be Intense!

I apologize for getting this blog out late!  I've been working alot these days.

This Full Moon actually took place this morning
Tuesday, May 17th at 7:09 AM EST. 

We usually feel the effects for two weeks until the New Moon.

This Full Moon is the time when the Moon in Scorpio
is opposite the Sun in Taurus, which are the two money signs.

Taurus statement is "I Have" and is about personal values and possessions.

Scorpio's statement is "I Desire" and is about other people's money -
Banks, Mortgage companies, Financial institutions, Wall Street, Taxes,
Inheritances, AND the Lottery!

Here is a light hearted song
to go with the Scorpio Full Moon,
which I wrote with my co-writers, called

Money is Energy.  It flows like currents - that's why it is called currency!



Both Scorpio and Taurus are fixed signs, meaning they are hard to budge.

They are also both feminine, YIN signs, so the
Full Moon energy is more internalized in its expression.

Scorpio is also a water sign so it is more emotional. 

So, this is a very powerful, intense Full Moon!

Also, with Neptune in Pisces, (another water sign which rules the Ocean)
we have recently seen a lot of flooding in the middle of the USA,
in the Missisissippi River.

This is also called the Buddha Moon, since The Buddha was born on the
Full Moon in Scorpio.  He was a prince who came to realize that attachment
to things was the basis of suffering in this world.




It is also the Birthday of my beloved teacher, Baba Muktananda Paramahamsa.
His main teaching was "God Dwells WIthin You As You."

Taurus is a Fixed, Feminine, Yin, Earth Sign.

Aries statement is "I AM" , followed by Taurus statement "I HAVE" --

So I thought Aries might say, "To Be Or Not To Be?"  like Hamlet.

And Taurus might say "To Have or Have Not?" like the old movie
with Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart.

It generally relates to our money and possessions, but
it is also about our Values.





So the question is, "Do You Want What You Have?"  

When you truly appreciate and show gratitude for what you HAVE,
then Life is more peaceful, and one feels like the 
peaceful little bull shown above.

The Buddha was also a Taurus, 
And he went in search of peace and
gave up everything.

Then he went to the opposite extreme --
and almost died while starving his body!

Finally, when he achieved enlightenment,
he realized that God is in everything,
and that it is ATTACHMENT to things that causes suffering.

Some people think that security and happiness would come
from standing on a pile of money.



But true happiness comes from within!

So, enjoy the peaceful beauty and abundance that is overflowing in Nature.

That is my favorite experience of Taurus.

And, as my Spiritual Teacher, Baba, who was also a Taurus, always said,

"God Dwells Within You AS YOU!"

There was once a Mayor of New York City, named Ed Koch, who used to often say, "How Am I Doing?"

Well, with the Full Moon in Libra on Sunday, April 17th, 9:44 PM CDT, and 10:44 PM EDT,
that statement could be "How are WE Doing?"



The Full Moon is when the Moon in Libra,
which is about the "We Are" consciousness,
is OPPOSITE the Sun in Aries,
which is about the "I AM" consciousness.

Libra is the Sign of Partnership. 



It is also the sign which says "I Balance," so this is a time
 for finding the balance between work and play,
being together and being alone,
being in the city versus going for a drive in the country,
surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Libra is also the sign of beauty and harmony,
and with Venus, the Ruler of Libra,
now in the dreamy sign of Pisces, which rules Film, 
I recommend seeing a wonderful,
romantic "re-make" of an old classic love story,
 "Jane Eyre." 

I discovered that this powerful love story
has been made into a movie 10 times!

Since the Moon rules the tides of the earth,
the fluids of our body, the breasts, the stomach,
and our emotional natures, this Full Moon
might make Relationship Issues FEEL very big, 
especially in the Cardinal, Outgoing, Air, Masculine,
Yang sign of  Libra.



And, we still have Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, and Uranus
OPPOSING the Full Moon in the Cardinal, Outgoing, Fire, Masculine,
Yang sign of Aries,

PLUS - We are also having our continuing Mercury Retrograde!  

So, IF you are having difficulties communicating in your relationships,
this would be the time to watch your words, hold your tongue, and just listen.



Most people tend to "travel backwards" in their minds during this time,
so traffic jams and accidents take place more frequently. 

I usually stay off the main roads, taking the "road less travelled" during Mercury Retrograde.



Mercury, the Messenger of the Gods

This Mercury Retrogrades ends officially on April 23rd but the "Storm" lasts a week later.

And as I have re-peated in the past,
I believe this is God's way of saying,
"Slow Down; Stop and Enjoy the Beauty of Nature;
Stop pushing so hard to get somewhere all the time -
Try BEING for a change." 

Mercury Retrograde is a time to re-think, re-view, re-evaluate,
re-new, re-fresh, re-connect with Spirit, and re-juvenate our lives. 

So, enjoy the beautiful Libra Full Moon, go for a walk in nature, 
and pay attention to the moment as the mind is directed within!

During my last post, I was so excited to talk about the SUPER FULL MOON in Virgo,
that I barely made any space to talk about the VERNAL EQUINOX, which is when
the Sun went into the sign of Aries on March 21st!  

And accidentally, I even de-posted the last one and re-posted it this morning in my
haste to get this one out!  WOW - Mercury Retrograde!

So this post will be MOSTLY devoted to the sign of ARIES!

And since sometimes I have very little time to write these days, I
will probably re-use some info from older posts. 

Sorry about that...if you may have heard all this before --
well, after all, it is Mercury Retrograde!

This is the time to re-peat, re-view, re-flect, re-consider, re-connect, re-charge, re-arrange,
re-new, and re-write!  HA!

So, every year, the Sun travels around the entire Zodiac, bringing us the Change of Seasons. 



When the Sun returns to the beginning of the Natural Zodiac, it enters Sign of Aries, the Ram!



When the Sun enters Aries, it begins the cycle of life all over again,
and we call this the Vernal Equinox, or the Birth of Spring. 

So, Happy Spring!    

I think the First Day of Spring should truly be our REAL NEW YEAR. 

It FEELS like New Life is bursting forth everywhere!  

Even the Symbol for Aries looks like an explosion of energy!





AND, this Sunday, April 3rd, not only will the NEW MOON be in Aries,
(when the Sun and Moon are in the same sign),
but we already have Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus, and now Mars in Aries,
making that SIX planets in the sign of Aries on Sunday!

As I have been saying, 

"That's A LOT OF FIRE IN THE SKY!"
 
Now - If you look at a Natural Zodiac as a Huge Cosmic Clock, Aries represents the Sunrise -
that first spark of life.



Aries is a Masculine, Yang, Cardinal, Fire Sign. 

In the Body, Aries rules the Head. 

So, if you have headaches or can't sleep, I recommend you take the
homeopathic cell salt for Aries, Kali Phos.

Aries statement is "I AM".   Some people think this refers to the EGO (little "i") -

But it actually relates to the Great "I AM"!

And, the early Christians chose this time of the year to celebrate Easter,
usually 3 weeks after the New Moon in Aries.  Easter will be on April 24th this year.



It looks like Jesus is coming out of the Tomb, saying "Here I AM!"

And can't you just imagine yourself bursting out of your own Tomb of Fear and Death into a Ball of Light?

YEEHAA!



We are here in these bodies to experience Eternal Life, the great "I AM." 

Of course, the Easter Bunny, with all his colorful Easter Eggs fits nicely into the Re-birthing Story, too!




So, now we see the cycle of life continue,
with the new budding flowers and birds signifying Spring, the end of the dead Winter. 





By following the rhythms and cycles of Nature,
we can truly feel Blessed by ALL these experiences -- 

Death and Re-birth, Loss and Gain, Breaking Down and Re-building --
the Ebb and Flow of the tides, the Rise and Fall of the Moon.

New Moons are great for starting things. 

Here is a more sedate little ram...





Since Aries is a Fire Sign, this New Moon might be a doozy!

I am hearing Jerry Lee Lewis singing "Goodness, Gracious, Great Balls of Fire!"

Re-visiting an old theme and an old friend -

Also, are you having problems communicating with Cell Phone, E-mail, Speech,
or writing?  How's your car doing?

Yes, Darlin', you guessed it!

It's that time again - MERCURY RETROGRADE! 



I think the Symbol for Mercury always looks like a guy with horns on his head - 
because the mind can be like a Devil, and causes so many devilish problems!

And --- with all these planets in ARIES, and if the MERCURY STORM
this past week is any indication - then this Mercury Retrograde is going to be a doozy!

I've already had car problems, computer problems, communication problems, and
people are starting to get the Spring flu.

This Saturday, at 1:10 PM EST, a "Super Full Moon" will take place in the Sign of Virgo.

Super Full Moon

Since the Moon rules the tides of the earth,
the fluids of our body, the breasts, the stomach,
and our emotional natures, 
this Super Full Moon might FEEL very big,
but since it is in the Mutable, Earth, Feminine,
YIN sign of Virgo, this can also be internalized.

Virgo's Statement is "I Analyze" so be careful
not to be too analytical and self critical during this time.




Virgo is Feminine, Yin Energy, Internal, Self-Sacrificing

This Full Moon is falling in late degrees of Virgo, 
while the Sun is in late degrees Pisces -

The Pisces / Virgo opposition is sometimes known
as the "Serve or Suffer" Axis. 

Being both Mutable signs, Pisces and Virgo
sometimes have a hard time with boundaries.




Pisces deals with deep hidden psychological fears,
addictions and spiritual groups, and charities,
while Virgo is concerned with healing, cleaning, 
service and menial tasks.

Virgo is generally related to the professions of Nursing,
Housekeeping and Office Work. 

Virgo really prefers working behind the scenes and helping the underdog.
 



                 Virgo Is Happy To Serve!

On a lighter note, I wanted to name this blog after 
a wonderful British TV Comedy I used to love to watch,
called "Are You Being Served?"

I believe it is important to do Service, and get
out of yourself, but I also recommend
taking care of yourself, and resting, and watching your health,
especially what you are eating, since Virgo rules the Colon.

If you feel overwhelmed by everyone pulling you
in several different directions, calm down
with a hot bath and some rest.  I've been
recommending this for every Full Moon lately!

And to confuse you even more, right after
this Super Full Moon in Virgo on Saturday,
which will be focused within, and self-sacrificing,

The next day, Sunday, the Sun
will burst into the Sign of Aries - the sign of "I AM"!

What a contradiction in Energies!

When the Sun goes into Aries,
this is known as the Vernal (Spring) Equinox
the First Day of Spring!  YAHOO!

AND, the Sun will be joining Jupiter, Mercury, and Uranus in Aries!

So, there should be lots of firey energy in the sky,
making you want to get up and go and start something new!
